Color Show Lipsticks by Maybelline - Review & Swatches

I showed these lipsticks in my yesterday's haul post and here is the in depth review with swatches. I have no idea why I always end up with photo heavy posts when it comes to lipsticks but it is what it is. Enjoy!

Color Show Lipsticks by Maybelline:
They say: 'Maybelline Color Show Lipstick is a fashionable intense lipstick, which comes in chic to vivid shades. Maybelline Color Show Lipstick is highly pigmented giving bold lips.
It stays for up to four to five hours.
The creamy texture is not heavy on the lips.
It does not smear or smudge.
It does not settle in line.
As its highly moisturised you don’t need to wear a lip balm'

Product Description & Packaging:
Color Show Lipstick range comes with colored bands around the black tube and the whole range is divided into four; red, pink, brown & mauve color codes which makes it pretty easy to pick the lipstick from your stash without opening it. Each shade range has its own shaded band. I do not own any from the brown range but rest of the bands will be shown in photos.

Pink range has series of 100, 200 represents red range, 300 is for brown and 400 is for mauve.

Color Description:
I have tried to take swatches as true to the color as possible but you might see them different depending on your display so here is a detailed shade description.

105 - Pinkalicious is my favorite among these shades. It is a gorgeous subtle tea pink shade which is perfect for everyday routine if you are not into really bright shades. It is highly pigmented.

107 - Pink Paradise is my least favorite among the shades I have because even though the pink tone of this shade is really pretty but it a a bit shimmery. The shimmer is very fine but I still cannot stand shimmer in lipsticks that already have a sheen finish. Pigmentation is great for this one.

403 - Plum Perfect is more like a tint for the lips. I mean, it does not have enough pigmentation to give full coverage, insetead, it feels like a highly tinted lip balm. I loved this shade because this tint-feature makes it wearable for me as I am too afraid to rock purple-tones in public.

201 - Downtown Red is one of those bright reds where you just have to wear a winged eyeliner. I am so in love with this shade and the pigmentation. It has a slight pink tone which is only visible when light hits the shade at certain angles.

202 - Red My Lips is more of a coral-ish red. Great pigmentation and is simply a must have shade.

203 - Cherry On Top is a perfect coral shade for falls and even for winter. I love the pigmentation and the shade.

204 - Red Siren is as stunning as 201 is but unlike 201, this loud shade has an orange tone. Loving the pigmentation.

Overall Experience:
I am super happy to own these lippies but these are quite average lipsticks if you compare the wear time. The maximum wear time would be three hours and some even go away within 2 hours, like 403 which does not have a very high pigmentation. You can always maximize the wearing time by using a same colored lip liner underneath but these lipsticks were tested without a base for review purpose.

The formula for all of these lipsticks is really really smooth and give flawless application. They are super moisturizing and keep lips hydrated without having to use a lip balm. As I mentioned yesterday, I do not wear reds too much but I love mixing lipsticks to tone them down a little at times and these are working pretty good for me.

These lipsticks give exact color payoff even if you use them using a lip brush. As for taking them off, they are not going to last the whole day anyways but taking them off is pretty easy. Any facial wipe will work for them and good thing is, they do not stain the lips.

They also do not get into line and feathering is not an issue even with brighter shades which is a great plus for moisturizing lipsticks. They also smell just way too yummy.

Overall, the complains I have will not stop me from buying more shades in future because this lipsticks have more pros and for the price, they are a pretty good deal.

  6. Hey, nice collection and lovely swatches, since my usual preference is for subtle shades like pinkish-brown, so I think I will check out Pinkalicious first! :-) Anyway, thanks for such an interesting and informative post, enjoyed it a lot! :-)
